Quick Gili Islads Guide
Gili islands are known for their beautiful sandy beaches, great snorkeling spots, and a relaxed atmosphere. Although similar in terms of landscape, the spirit differs from island to island. Gili Trawangan, the largest of the 3 islands, is renowned as the “party island” with beach parties happening regularly all around the island. Gili Meno, on the other hand, is very laid back and probably the quietest from them all. And finally, Gili Air is said to be the ideal middle ground.
An interesting fact is that unlike in the rest of Indonesia, motorcycles and scooters are prohibited on these islands and the only ones you can spot here are electric ones. Instead, you can rent a bicycle and enjoy a ride around the whole island in less than a half-day. If you are planning to visit Gilis, you can get there by a speed boat departing from Padangbai and the journey takes approximately 1,5 hours.
